Easts Women's Hockey Club was formed in 1990. The club was started to give Eastern Suburbs school leavers and others living in the area an alternative to the existing hockey clubs, particularly since to play for a university team at the time one had to either be a current or past student. This obviously meant a large number of young hockey players were without a team to play for with their friends.
Initially Easts had 3 teams in 4th, 5th and 6th grade of the Eastern Districts Womens Hockey Association competition which at the time was played on grass. We were originally sponsored by Eastern Districts Rugby Union Club for many years who provided uniforms and equipment to the three teams. Training took place at various locations in the East over the years from Rushcutters Bay Park, Lyne Park, Colleagues, Woollahra Oval and eventually Little Bay. The initial focus of the club was seriously social. Many past members and their friends can vouch for this. All have fond memories of the infamous Easts Hockey Balls held at the end of each season which were always successful evenings with attendance well above the norm for weekend matches!

Having started in order to provide a social setting in which to play hockey, Easts Womens Hockey Club has through many people's hard work become a very competitive and successful club, now kindly sponsored by Easts Leagues Club.
We have won many premierships in recent years and in 2007 our 4th grade team were runners up and our 2nd grade team were joint premiers. In 2008 our 2nd grade team were premiers and our 3rd grade team were runners up. We fully intend to keep up with this winning streak!
Hundreds of girls have played for the club over the last 20 years and many have contributed a great deal of time and effort in ensuring its continued success for the benefit of future members. On behalf of all members, thank you for being part of this great club. We’re already looking forward to another highly successful season in 2010.
